Students get a hands-on course on sailing, conducted by a US Coast Guard Certified Skipper.

The course will cover the basics of pre-sail check out, engine check; motoring, leaving and returning to a slip; mooring ball pickup, anchoring; practice sailing on all points of sail; sailing by compass; performing 'man overboard' rescue, reefing the sails.

All keelboat instruction is taught on the Haverstraw Bay. The boat is based in Haverstraw Marina, North Basin. The course runs 10am to 3pm.

The Keelboat courses are usually run on demand with up to 3 students.
