SEAS Bergen Meetings

SEAS holds General Membership meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every month in Maywood, NJ at the Twin Door Tavern event room. These meetings are open to all members and non-members who may be interested in joining SEAS Bergen.

At our meetings we review club business, hear from our committees, and learn about upcoming sailing educational programs and social events. Our meetings also typically sponsor guest speakers who enjoy taking questions and encourage interactive discussions as part of their presentation. Past topics featured are noted below:
- Sailors who have circumnavigated the globe
- Coast Guard officers charged with protecting our waterways
- Naturalists and environmentalists dedicated to shore and water preservation
- Science experts in tides, wakes, space and weather
- Navigation, knots, water safety and sailing skills presentations
- Sea Scouts, kayakers and canoeing clubs with whom we share the water
- SEAS club members back from trips, charters or exciting sailing adventures
- Historians sharing the cultural and nautical past of our local waterways

Our Board and various committees meets regularly. SEAS Bergen participates in all SEAS National meetings as well, which include other SEAS chapters. These meetings are generally open to all SEAS Bergen members and offer wonderful insight into our non-profit organization. There are no meeting fees or charges. Sometimes we serve snacks!

Social Events & Networking

Sailing is Fun!

People who sail, enjoying sailing with others or simply like being near the water and sailboats, generally like being around sailors.

Each and every event sponsored by SEAS Bergen provides an opportunity for socializing and networking with people who love sailing. This includes our educational programs, our fund raising events, our monthly general meetings and the activities sponsored by the SEAS national organization and our sister SEAS chapters.

If you are looking to get on the water as a crew member or simply a passenger, if you are a captain looking for experienced sailors or just company, if you want to find the best place to buy a used sail or a sailboat, if you would like to hear about and maybe consider a chartered sailing vacation in local or far off waters, SEAS meetings and events provide the perfect forum.

Our goal as a non-profit organization is to provide inexpensive educational sailing programs and the opportunity for people with an interest in sailing to network and socialize. Attend a meeting, help out dockside at a basic sailing class, enjoy a sail on the Hudson River or Greenwood Lake, and you will see this for yourself. Many programs are free and open to all SEAS members.

Sailing, being with sailors and just talking about sailing is FUN!
