SEAS Bergen has always been teaching the theory of sail backed up by the practical application on the boat. From classroom to the boat, we have given the student the starting point of basic sailing with opportunities to practice and improve their skills with our open sails. Stepping up to the keelboat, we put the student into the practical classroom, learning hands-on aboard our keelboat to become experienced and competent sailors.

Our 27' Catalina is the ideal step up for basic sailing students who want to learn and enjoy a bigger boat on a larger body of water!
Docked at Safe Harbor Haverstraw Marina on the Hudson River, the Zephyr is the largest sailboat in the SEAS Bergen fleet. With its fixed keel, pedestal mounted wheel, inboard diesel engine, large salon & roomy cockpit, the Zephyr is simply a pleasure to sail. Reserve a spot in the Keelboat 2-Day Course.

Our training and assessment complies with On-Water Recreational Boating Skills Standard – Sail, the American National Standard for on-water instruction in entry-level recreational sailboat operation.

NauticEd’s mission is to educate and train competent sailors. Sailing competence is having a mix of knowledge, skills and experience. The competent sailor will keep the crew safe, have more fun, sail with confidence and be empowered to meet a challenge that extends beyond personal boundaries.
NauticEd programs exceed all U.S. and international recreational sailing standards. NauticEd courses conform to U.S. Coast Guard EDU-3, NASBLA verified third-party assessment, and exceed United Nations (UNE) Resolution 40 competence standards.
